Sunabeda is a Public sector township of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is home to Engine Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)- Koraput, an aircraft manufacturing company. It manufactures powerplants for MIG and Sukhoi aircrafts with Russian collaboration.
Created around 1965, mainly to accommodate HAL employees, Sunabeda is a planned and well laid out township. The tribes of Khond, Bhatada, Paroja, Bhumia, Bondas inhabit the surrounding place.It is situated around 1000 meters above sea level.
Sunabeda is a small township with adjoining areas like AEF Colony, NAC, Semliguda, Dpcamp, Jadaguda, Malliguda, Jersey Farm, Timber, and Damonjodi. The HAL factory employs around six thousand people, and provides residential quarters for the all employees of the company within the township.
